WHAT IS HALOTHERAPY?

Halotherapy, also known as dry Salt Therapy, is a holistic and 100% natural approach that mimics the micro-climate of a salt cave. Dry salt air is dispersed into an enclosed environment (room, bed, booth, cabin) through a unique process generated by halogenerator. This type of treatment is a safe and effective way of using salt's natural antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and super absorbent properties to provide relief for respiratory and skin conditions.

DETOX LUNGS AND SKIN NATURALLY

When you heat salt, it maintains a dry and kinetically active state. This heated and dry pure sodium chloride is then crushed into micro-sized particles and dispersed into the air in an environment where people are inhaling the fresh salt air. When micro-particles of dry salt are inhaled into the respiratory system, they absorb and remove allergens, toxins and foreign substances in your lungs and throughout your respiratory tract. Salt also reduces any inflammation and opens airway passages making easier to breath.

SALT THERAPY FOR OUR SKIN?

Yes! Our skin is a very complex and intelligent organ that has many important functions. It is the largest organ and, like the respiratory system, it has a major role to protect and defend the body against bacteria, viruses, and other microbes. It also excretes wastes, regulates temperature and prevents dehydration by controlling the level of perspiration.

Scientific research has confirmed that the micro-particles of salt have a beneficial influence on our skin and hairs providing healing and cosmetic effects. This increases the activity of skin cell ion channels and activates electrophysiological activity that determines the skin’s protective properties. The salt provides pH normalization and induces reparative and regenerative processes in derma, increases skin rigidity, stimulates growth and improves hair health. The dry salt impacts the skin microcirculation and assists cellular membrane activity used in dermatology and cosmetology and enhances their effectiveness.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Salt Therapy?

Halotherapy, also known as dry Salt Therapy is a holistic approach that mimics the microclimate of a salt cave.

Is there research to support Salt Therapy?

Yes, although most of the research has been done in Europe where the treatment originated. There are great research articles on www.halotherapysolutions.com if you want to learn more.

How does it work?

Pure “dry” sodium chloride is ground up and heated in a machine called a halogenerator. The micro-sized crushed salt particles are then dispersed into the air in an enclosed environment (Salt Room, HALO Bed, HALO Booth, HALO Cabin). These particles of fine salt penetrate deep within the respiratory system and work to remove mucous build up and eliminate bacteria and toxins. This unique process helps open and expand the constricted airways allowing individuals to breath easier and more clearly.

The humidity in the room is generally between 40-55%. If the air is too dry or too humid the efficacy of the therapy declines, as the tiny salt particles cannot get into the smallest parts of the lungs (alveoli).

What are the benefits of Halotherapy treatment?

Those who suffer from the following conditions can greatly benefit from the Halotherapy. There are benefits to those health minded individuals who want to enjoy the lasting effects of a respiratory health and wellness routine to maintain a healthy immune system. It has antiinflammatory properties for athletes rigorous workouts to aid in muscle fatigue. It is also a natural way to relax and keep serotonin levels even. It aids in many skin conditions as well.

When should it be avoided?

Halotherapy is known as a safe and natural treatment. Clients who have any serious health conditions or women who are pregnant should always seek medical advice from a doctor.

Halotherapy for people who have the following conditions, should also seek medical advice from their doctor.

  • Infections associated with a fever
  • Contagious diseases
  • Respiratory System Cancers
  • Tuberculosis
  • Cardiac disease patients
  • Acute respiratory disease
  • Severe hypertension
  • Chronic obstructive lung diseases
  • Intoxication

Are there any side effects?

Normally there are no side effects. Some people might experience a scratchy throat or a tickle in their sinuses. Others who might be slightly more sensitive could experience a minor skin irritation, which tends to go away after a session or two. For those who experience a slight cough, this is a sign that the salt therapy is effectively working. The body is loosening and releasing all the mucous buildup.

What kind of salt is used?

99.99% pure sodium chloride (Pharmaceutical grade salt). It contains no fillers or caking agents. It does come from a natural source but it is naturally processed to remove all of its impure elements. It’s the same salt that hospitals in Eastern Europe use in their salt rooms as well as the same salt used in all of the research that Halotherapy has been conducted on. We do not recommend Himalayan or sea salt as it is not stripped of all the impurities. There could be dirt, clay or some type of debris that could be harmful to the lungs. It’s very healthy for the digestive
system but not for the respiratory system.

Are there any contraindications?

No. However, because Halotherapy has a detoxifying effect by releasing toxins and bacteria from the body, you may want to get medical advice from your doctor if you are taking prescribed medications.

How many sessions/times a week is necessary?

Every experience is different, and it depends on the type and severity of the client’s condition. For respiratory and skin conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, sinusitis, allergies and psoriasis people can complete 2 to 3 sessions a week for 4 to 8 weeks. Again, it does depends on the severity of the condition. Your clients may feel some improvement after a single session, but a series of treatments is required to achieve long-term results. Some people use treatments as a preventative measure to avoid the common cold, and other respiratory viruses.

What results can clients expect?

As a result of Salt Therapy, the condition of compromised bronchia is restored, breathing becomes easier and quality / function of breathing improves. This facilitates the normalization of other bodily systems. Due to a fortified immune system, “sick days” will decrease and clients will become more resilient. In cases of asthma and croup, the inflammation causing spasms of the bronchus / windpipe will cease and the passage of air through the bronchial tubes will normalize, leading to the end of attacks.

Clients who have asthma, allergies and other bronchial issues have seen some amazing results in a short period of time. Breathing became easier and more energy was experienced. After receiving Salt Therapy treatments, client’s respiratory issues and lung function were vastly improved. In addition, those who have skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema or acne have also had incredible improvements in the health of their skin.

What will I experience when I sit in the salt room?

Salt Therapy is a relaxing, peaceful and rejuvenating experience. Your clients are surrounded by the fine salt particles and negative ions created in the air. Sometimes people detect a subtle and pleasant salt taste on their lips. It’s a place where one can sit back and experience the salt treatment in a very peaceful and non-stressful setting. Each Salt room is different and can have different themes and feels depending on the type salt décor that is used. Each salt room is unique but provides the same beneficial wellness treatment that only Halotherapy can offer.

What shall I wear during Salt Therapy?

Comfortable clothing (most people just wear street clothes). The salt air will not harm your clothing, nor leave a noticeable residue. If you are coming for skin conditions, we recommend you wear shorts and T shirt, to expose as much of the affected area as possible. Protective outerwear is available if you prefer. Clients are typically asked do not wear perfume before or during the therapy, as many of our clients are allergic to them or have sensitivity to the scents.

Salt Therapy is completely safe.  It is a 100% drug-free, non-invasive and comfortable treatment with no side effects or potential health hazards. The only people who should avoid being in a salt chamber are those with severe chronic respiratory issues and those with open wounds and sores. It is advisable that people going into a Salt Chamber remove all personal jewelry, glasses and other belongings since salt can be corrosive to exposed metal.
